Film-maker Rob Zombie is to write and direct a new film in the Halloween series, says the Hollywood Reporter.
Zombie, also a rock singer, told the trade paper that the movie will take "a totally different approach to make [Halloween] scary again".

"The look and the feel is going to be completely different," he said.

John Carpenter directed the 1978 original, about masked killer Michael Myers. Zombie has made House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects.

Halloween, which starred Jamie Lee Curtis as a babysitter terrorised by psychopath Myers, made over $60m (£31.3m) worldwide - a record for independent film at that time.

Zombie said that he sought Carpenter's blessing to make the new film.

"He was very supportive, which I thought was very important," said Zombie.

"I feel like Halloween is his baby, and I wanted to be very respectful."

The new film will disregard the numerous sequels that followed Halloween.

"Halloween started off as a very terrifying concept, a terrifying movie. But over the years, Michael Myers has become a friendly Halloween mask," Zombie said.

"But I think the story and the situation is scary. All it needed was someone to come in and to take a totally different approach to make it scary again."

Let the silliness begin!

Wait.

He's making a new Halloween film.

....

Like... not a movie that's got a Halloween theme... but... like... Holy shit this sounds like a bad idea.

Can he please quit making me feel bad for liking him? Anytime now would be good.

Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. Ah crap, just dont give Micheal any lines...or a gun....or make him a beared redneck.

Should be fine as long as he's sensible about it. :?
I must say I'm surprised at how readily you boys bastardized your code of ethics in order to justify a morally dubious decision.
That was very grown-up of you.

Yeah red neck parents generally don't go to the trouble of finding a babysitter for their kids. They either leave them with a shotgun and the dog or they just take them to the bar with them.

A "Halloween" remake. Directed by Rob Zombie. Hope it's faithful to the original.

Apparently, it's now broken box office records for a film released across the Labor Day weekend...

Though of course that doesn't mean it's any good. Then again can't be much worse than I thought the Resident Evil films, and pretty much expecting the forthcoming one to be. Even with actual zombies rather than just being directed by one.
