PHPBB 3.0

Welcome to PHPBB 3.0.

Obviously, this is a work in progress. Normally, I'd work on everything off-site and then put up the fully complete working version. Due to the amount of spam we were getting we wanted it up as quickly as possible, even though we may still get spam, you can now report it. It is also a hell of a lot easier to get rid of it.

I'll be working on colours and whatnot soon. If anything seems broken to you, fix it! You may have noticed there's no html anymore, if there are no corresponding BBCodes, tell me, I add them.

Hello again. I changed the colours, which was actually remarkably easy. If there are no huuuge complaints, I may be leaving this as is for the meantime until some different styles are written or I find a nice one. This is pretty cutting edge software after all, so there aren't really that many up yet. However, luckily, the software is now more separate from the style, so it's less of a pain when it's updated.

This will be completed over the summer months along with something special which will require a big re-invite back and official opening

More seriously, I haven't had much time (or energy) to look terribly deep into the software but so far I like the UI. It'll take some getting used to but it's neat and has some features that I really appriciate.

Yeah, I'm going to have to re-do a couple of things to take advantage of the new paradigm (I hate that word, reeks of meaningless post-modernism, but it works here), that allows this global announcement which was unavailable before. The re-invite thing is for all existing members (who haven't been banned ) when we open the next project (codename: Literature) and stuff.

Edit: That is, when I actually do it! Over summer is the plan.

In Internet Explorer 7, there's a red X to the left of the top banner text. Not there in Firefox.

Well don't use IE then!

I mean, the site comes with a phpbb logo (with pixels in the original background colour) in the top left that links back to the index page, when I switch it off it remains, but doesn't load, IE detects this it seems. I'll replace it with a transparent gif a little later. I could change the phpbb logo to a png and get it back, but to be honest it looks a bit naff and makes the text wrap anyway. I'll leave it up as originally in the meantime for the curious.

Um, fixed the picture thing in IE I think. It made the text at the top of the screen (CorrosiveTruths.org) indent rather horridly, but after much head-scratching I eventually realised that the site_logo image was padded, so it isn't now, no more weird indent. I'll replace the text with a graphic at some point, and maybe other bits and pieces too. Less defaulty is good, to separate us from other phpbb3 sites, not that many exist, people are still on rather outdated versions of the old one.

By the way, you may not have noticed, but phpbb3 is utf proper, so if you look at my “Find Madeleine” thread you'll see lots of special characters in the quotations and stuff, actually look at the quotation marks around the topic title in this post.

Why is this important? Well, when the other thing mentioned earlier comes out, it means forum stuff can be copied from any part of the site to any other. Composing in OpenOffice.org comes in very handy for longer postings.
